Fairy tale costumes can be used to look like anything from an adorable princess to a super-hero to a zombie, but they can also come in a wide range of styles.
Today, we’re excited to reveal a cape that looks as if it’s ready to get the party started.
The costume is based on the fairy tale Cape and is the first in the Disney Fairy Tale Collection, which includes Cinderella’s capes and the classic Disney cape.
In fact, it even comes with a red cape for a touch of flair.
Here’s how to make your own Disney fairy tale cape.
First, get the fabric cut.
If you want to make it for a kid, go ahead and cut out a little princess figure.
For adults, try making it for yourself, which can be a bit trickier.
For the princess, make a red ribbon for her hair, like the one below.
For anyone else, you can just cut out the red ribbon and start embroidering on your own.
The cape can be cut to a wide variety of sizes, but we’re going with the standard length of the Disney capes for now.
For this project, we cut the cape down to a length of 18 inches (45 centimeters).
To make the ribbon, you’ll need: One 16-inch (45-centimeter) long ribbon, 1 ½ inches (3.8 centimeters) wide.
Cut the ribbon in half.
Place the ribbon over the bottom of the cape.
The two halves should be touching.
To secure the two halves together, fold the ribbon through the seam and through the top of the cap.
You can see the whole process in the video below.
Repeat this process for the other ends of the ribbon.
Repeat for all four ends of your ribbon.
You should now have a cute little ribbon.
To finish the cape, we put a small piece of ribbon through one of the ends.
We used the red and purple colors from the Disney collection to give it that Disney princess look.
You’ll need to take your ribbon to a sewing machine and sew it onto the cape (we used a size 3 needle for this).
To get the red cape, start with the center seam and sew all the way to the center of the elastic band.
This will give you a little extra control over the length of your cape, which makes it easier to control the hem of the skirt.
The rest of the design is pretty much up to you.
For all the cape patterns you might have seen before, you’re in luck.
We’re adding more Disney fairy tales and Disney costumes in the future, so be sure to check back!
